FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITAGAR, Sept 11: The Aruchal Pradesh State Commission for Women (APSCW) and the Aruchal Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (APSCPCR) have strongly condemned the incident of alleged rape and mental harassment to a seven-year-old student of Liitung Liimang Public School at Geku by a teacher.  “Children are the future of the country. They should be given ample opportunity to realize their dreams and to live their life freely and with dignity. They should be given time for full mental and physical growth. However there is rise in the cases of crime against children especially against innocent and tender girls in our state in recent times and the perpetrators in most of these cases are those who were entrusted to protect and guide them,” a joint statement said here on Thursday. APSCW & APSCPCR Chairperson Mitali Tingkhatra stated that there is an urgent and serious need to deliberate on the issue by involving all the stakeholders and the public to come out with all encompassing remedy which helps in preventing the occurrence of heinous crime against our young daughters and sisters.

She also informed that the Commission has written a letter to the Upper Siang SP to furnish the status report of the case and to expedite the investigation and further appealed for a quick action to be taken by the DC of the district.
