Childline hosts awareness programme in Tinsukia tea estate

TINSUKIA, Nov 30: Childline, Tinsukia in collaboration with Assam Branch Indian Tea Association (ABITA) organized 'Childline se dosti' day, a programme to create awareness about Childline 1098 service on November 26 at Mahakali Tea Estate here.

Childline in an emailed statement stated that around 60-70 children and adolescent were present at the event.

The programme started with a welcome speech by Sujata Tanti, Circle Coorditor of ABITA. Tanti in her speech highlighted the objective of the programme.

Karishma Gogoi, Centre Coorditor, Childline, Tinsukia spoke about Childline 1098 service.  Gogoi explained about Childline 1098's works. She also cited examples of the circumstances in which children, adolescent or any person can seek help from Childline. To make the participants aware about their rights, Muktith Saikia, Team Member-Childline, Tinsukia talked briefly about child rights.

A-two-minute role play was shown by Protim Phukan, Team Member, Childline, Tinsukia. As a part of the event, a 15-minute rally was also taken out with an objective of sensitizing community on child rights. All the children and adolescent present in the programme participated in the rally. The rally covered two labour lines within the Tea Estate. After finishing the rally, the participants were shown a short film by Childline on child labour.
