Children fair organized to motivate students in Dhubri district

DHUBRI: In order to give exposure and motivation to students to take part in various cultural events, Lohajani cluster under Agomoni educational block of Dhubri organized a ‘Shishu Samaroh’ (children fair) last week. Hitikesh Bhakat, the CRCC, centralized the schools of his cluster for the first time. The Shishu Samaroh was a mega event for the cluster, led by Bhakat (CRCC) and 45 teachers of 14 schools.

More than 1,100 students, 28 cooks, 14 mothers’ groups and 14 SMC were part of this whole event. Some active teachers of the event were Bhaskar Bhagowati, Jyotirmoy Barman, Pinku Das, Pratul Bhouwmik, Akbar Ali, Nayanjyoti Baruah, Safikul Khan, Dhanmoni Das, Amitabh Barman, and Rajendra Nath Rai.

‘Voice of Koch’, an organization which works for preserving Koch culture, helped in training the students in personality development. With the support of the community and Piramal Foundation fellow Junaid Ahmed, the event was expanded from only beauty pageant to talent hunt show, art competition, dance competition, singing competition, folk dance competition, handicraft exhibition and open quiz. More than 80 students participated in the cultural show, 50 exhibited their handicraft and around 30 sang on the stage. There was an open quiz for the students and community.

Around 2,500 community members gathered in Ramesh Sarkar Khelpathar, Lohajani where the event took place. Around 40 district and block-level officials, Dhubri Teachers’ Association president, 15 CRCCs and retired teachers were also invited as guests of honour.
