Children learn art of terracotta clay-making at summer workshop

TANGLA, July 23: A three-day long summer arts and craft workshop, conducted by Lotus Fine Art Society of Tangla, concluded here at Adarsha Vidyapith School premises on Sunday.

 The workshop attended by nearly 80 participants of all age groups, was graced as resource person by eminent artist Dadul Chaliha along with Bhanu Paul of Dhubri.

Sahil Haque, a student of Arunodoi Academy said, “I am very happy to participate in the workshop. I learned the terracotta clay-making art and at the same time learnt to make creative things with waste materials.”

The students were taught the art of terracotta clay-making, paper-cutting, flower making and drawing portraits and scenery in the workshop. Dadul Chaliha made beautiful clown faces out of cardboard paper. He said, “We discard many things, thinking they are not useful. But using innovative ways and creativity, we can make beautiful craft out of these things.” An exhibition was also held which was iugurated by Dr. Lakhan Kr. Boro, physician of Udalguri Civil Hospital.
