Children of a lesser god pay tribute to teachers

Shillong, Sept 5: On the occasion of Teachers’ Day, where all the fortute children were celebrating the special day, the less fortute and underprivileged children were not left behind to pay a tribute to their teachers of different educatiol centres run by SPARK for the children deprived of education.

It was also an occasion of celebration for SPARK team to celebrate its achievement as the organisation recently received an award from the Government of India at New Delhi and therefore the joy and happiness was shared with the children.

The Teachers’ Day programme was organised at KJP Assembly Hall here for the teachers and the under-privileged children.

The children participants were rag pickers, domestic helpers, child labourers, street children, cow boys, slum children, etc.

The objective of the programme was to provide a platform to these children to show their admiration towards their teachers and to express their gratitude to them for their dedication, hard work and selfless services towards the underprivileged children. It also providing them an opportunity to display their various talents through stage performance.

The children put their entire effort to make the day special for their beloved teachers. The programme comprised of welcoming the teachers through welcome song and dance by the children as well as a skit performed by the students.

More than 300 children participated in the event.

The programme was made more special by the presence of the children’s parents who were honoured as the first and immediate teachers of their children and directing them to right path as well as guiding them towards a better life. The parents thoroughly appreciated the initiative and applauded the efforts made by SPARK towards the cause of their children.
