Children's Day celebrated in Demow

DEMOW, Nov 14: Children’s Day was celebrated on Monday in every school of Demow.

Though it was a holiday, yet all the schools of Demow celebrated Children’s Day. The programme started with the ceremonial lamp being lit before the portrait of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Teachers spoke about Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and encouraged the students to follow his footsteps. Different cultural programmes were organized among students were given prizes by the teachers.

Under the patroge of Sopur Social Development Society, an NGO celebrated Children’s Day in Bor Deroi Middle English School. A meeting was organized which was presided over by Saikia Chaura, Headmaster of the Bor Deroi Middle English School. Quiz and extempore speech competition were organized by the organizing committee where the winning candidates were given attractive prizes along with certificates. Sanjay Prasad Sah, president and Deep Jyoti Gowala, member of Sopur Social Development Society, along with all the teaching staff of Bor Deroi Middle English School, were present in the meeting.
