Children's Day celebrated in Goalpara with gaiety

Goalpara, November 14: The birth anniversary of the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, was observed as Children’s Day in various places of Goalpara on Monday.

In this regard, the children of Aalok Griha, a temporary shelter home for the children under care and protection, celebrated the day with different colorful programmes inside the campus at Santigar. The celebration began with the lighting of lamp and floral tribute before the portrait of Jawaharlal Nehru by Sofikul Ahmed, chairperson, Child Welfare Committee (CWC), in presence of member Golap Sankar th, institutiol care protection officer Moonmoon Sadhanidar Neog and Sanjay Hazarika, chairman, Integrated Development Association, an NGO which runs the home.

Presided over by Priya Rabha, a Class VIII student, the children presented folk dance, Bihu dance and recited poetry.  Meanwhile, similar programmes were also held at the office of the Goalpara district Congress on the occasion. Alhaj Abu Sayed presided over the meeting where local MLA AK Rasid Alom, district leaders Amzad Ali, Mujaffar Ali, Taijuddin Ahmed and Tapashi Devi focused on the life of the former Prime Minister. Ababil Model Academy and Markaz Academy also observed the day.
