Children's Day , tiol Education Day observed in Silchar

Silchar, Nov  22: Lakhipur Block Elementary Education department in association with Assam Sarba Siksha Abhijan Mission jointly observed ‘tiol Education Day and Children’s Day’ at 961 Janta LP School in Lakhipur tea garden recently. The programme began with the lighting of the auspicious lamp by Lalawmpui Tuolor, in charge of the sub divisiol department of block elementary education, Kumud Bandhu Dev, former principal of Lakhipur Earle HS School, Manimohan Singh, N Mahanta, Manish Das, school inspector and other dignitaries. CRCCs Payal Das, Topa Debth and Sunita Rakshit presented a traditiol song on the occasion.

 Speaking on the occasion, Kumud Bandhu Dev said the tiol Education Day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Maula Abdul Kalam Azad, an eminent educationist and Independent India’s first education minister. As the country’s first education minister, Azad oversaw the establishment of a tiol education system with a particular emphasis on free primary education and modern institutions of higher education. Maula Abdul Kalam Azad is also credited with the foundation of the University Grants Commission (UGC), an important institution to supervise and advance higher education in the country. The programme has been organized for the first time in South Barak area under Lakhipur sub division.

 Lalawmpui Tuolor said the celebration aims to ensure that students are exposed to a number of projects that strengthen their sustaibility in existing environment, enhance thinking, social and emotiol skills, become self-motivated learners, get equipped with vocatiol skills, become part of new generation learners who focus on sustaible life skills, and make a positive impact on the society. Community outreach, entrepreneurial projects, vocatiol skills, life Skills and Industry based projects are also being integrated into the school curriculum. There is a distinct paradigm shift emerging in the education sector of the country.  She further said that the students should work hard to excel in studies. The department of sub divisiol BEEO will provide all sorts of help to make attending schools a joyous experience for the students.

 Children and teachers from 817 LP School, Boali,  Lakhipur Tea Garden LP School, Jogai Mathura ME School, 112 LP School Binkandieghat and 774 Olicherra LP School also attended the programme. Kartik Roy, principal of Lakhipur Sangeet Vidyalaya and his students presented a song on the occasion, besides a dance competition was also organized. The participating children were awarded prizes and certificates in appreciation of their performances by the organizers. Others who spoke on the occasion included Sunil Kumar Singh, Johor Das, Anjay Pandey, Tapash Akhanda and Dhani Kumar Rabidas.
