Beijing has started reinforcing underground military facilities near the Tibet-Arunachal Pradesh border

New Delhi: Think tanks and policy makers in New Delhi have expressed serious concern over China’s latest move of reinforcing underground military facilities near Tibet-Arunachal Pradesh border. However, India’s Foreign Ministry is yet to make a statement over the matter. “It’s a serious concern that China has started reinforcing underground military facilities near Tibet-Arunachal Pradesh border,” said Subimal Bhattacharjee, a strategic affairs expert.

The reported move taken by the red dragon is, however, is a fresh move after the Doklam standoff. “Government of India must intervene into the matter urgently to avert any more skirmishes,” said Bhattacharjee. According to the reports, the underground facilities near Lhoka town include a possible ammunition storage facility and the headquarters of the PLA’s Tibet military district. The expert said that New Delhi should take up the matter “at the bilateral level.” According to the reports, the tunneling activity in this area began in 2017 and excavation was noticed from April last year.
