Chinese coach to train Assam paddlers

GUWAHATI, May 11: Assam Table Tennis Association will organize a coaching camp for the young paddlers in memory of renowned sports organizer Phani Sarma. The camp will get under way at Golaghat Indoor stadium from tomorrow and it will be supervised by intertiolly reputed Chinese Coach Yen Wei.

Rockybul Hussain, the president of the Assam Table Tennis Association and Agriculture Minister, disclosing the news in a media conference said, “The camp is being organized as a part of our plans to take the game one step forward in our state. Chinese coach will stay at Goalaghat for the next one month and I am optimistic that the young talent of our state will be able to learn a lot of new things from him."

It may be mentioned here that this is for the time any Chinese coach is visiting the state to train the players. Around 100 players from the different parts of the state will take part in this one month camp.

The media briefing was also attended by Tridib Duvarah, the secretary of the Assam Table Tennis Association and Yen Wei. Wei, who had the experience to work with the paddlers of Assam during his earlier visit in the country, felt that there is huge talent in this game in Assam. "During my earlier visit to India I have meet few table tennis players of Assam whom were really talented. I hope there will be many talented players in this camp also and I will try to give them proper education of this game."

 Meanwhile, Tridib Duvarah today said that his association has chalked out series of plans to take the game forward. As a part of it they will organize many more such camps in different parts of Assam with the foreign coaches during the next one year.
