Chirang fashion designer receives accolade in Delhi

Bongaigaon, Dec 24: An Assamese fashion designer from Chirang district created waves in Delhi with his designs. Safiur Rahman from Satipur village in Chirang district designed costumes which were highly appreciated by people and the media in a programme titled ‘Northeast’ hosted in DLF Palace, Delhi recently. Rahman said that his specification of costume was khadi. “We have maximum input and resource in our culture. The Northeast is much richer in culture, tradition and costume designing. I wish to take them to the intertiol level so that the world can know about our rich culture. But most Assamese youth are not interested in this prestigious profession. I wish Assamese youths will be interested in this profession in the coming days and we all will together showcase our culture before the world,” he said.
