Chirang moving towards becoming cashless district

Bongaigaon, Jan 5: “Chirang district is moving smoothly from cash to cashless system despite network connectivity problem, inconvenient geographical locations and low literacy rate in the district,” said Gagan rzary, District Information and Public Relation Officer of Chirang on Thursday in an official statement.

“In a significant impact after a rigorous campaigning in almost all the areas, the Chirang district administration has able to motivate and convince a good number beneficiaries and  merchants to get their mes  registered under Digital Fincial Inclusion Awareness and Access (DFIAA).  In its strategic campaigning plan, it has divided the entire district Police Station, Sadar Subdivision and Development Block-wise, then all 61 VCDCs into 12 groups and engaged in those areas the district officials like two Circle Officers, seven Assistant Commissioners and three Block Development Officers and different  Branch Magers of banks to carry out awareness meetings from December 26, focusing on community mobilization, registration and identifying communities and areas where awareness camps are most needed. In this digital economy campaign, the district has already been able to register 3,752 beneficiaries and 34 merchants under DFIAA and as such, organized camps in almost 61 VCDCs   and three colleges with the efforts of the Common Service Centre (CSC), Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) operators and Village-level Entrepreneurs (VLE), and with the logistic help and support of the chairmen of the VCDCs,” he said.

H e said that the officials, who had been engaged as magistrates in-charge and master trainers are COs Karmadev Brahma, Gaya Prasad Agarwal, EOs Gakul Ch. Brahma, Rajeev Das,  ACs Dhrubajyoti Das, Jitu Kr. Barman, Dipak Khanikar, Rajarshri Sen Deka, Monsur Ahmed, Sangita Devi, Nilotpol Pathak, Lukumoni Borah, BDOs Kumud rzary, Arun Kr. Debth, Hementa Deka and CSC operator yanjyati Ray and ADC Diganta Baisya as Nodal Officer. “Further, it may be mentioned that 70 per cent out of around 4.6 lakh people have opened bank accounts in the district till today,” he said.
