Chirang Police busts NDFB(S) camp

Bongaigaon, Dec 6: Chirang district police busted an NDFB(S) camp recently following information. Sankar Brata Rai Medhi, Chirang Superintendent of Police, said that on the basis of secret information about the movement of a group of NDFB (S) cadres under the command of Batha in Ballambari Bagan Forest area near Indo-Bhutan border located at about 35 km north-west from Runikhata PS, a search operation was launched on Monday by Chirang Police.

“On sighting the police party, the NDFB (S) cadres opened indiscrimite fire at the police party. The police party also opened retaliatory fire, as a result of which one unidentified suspected militant sustained bullet injuries. He was shifted to hospital for treatment where he was declared as brought dead. The other militants maged to escape by taking advantage of dense jungles. After firing stopped from both the sides, the entire area was searched and during search the camp was found and one 9 mm pistol, one magazine, 5 rounds 9 mm live ammunition, empty cases, camp materials, ration items, utensils, clothes, wearing apparels, and medicines were recovered. The process of identification of the suspected slain militant/linkman is on. Combing operations are on,” he said.
