Choir member does Meghalaya proud

SHILLONG, Oct 9: Ibarisha Lyngdoh, daughter of Hunnily Lyngdoh and Pilgrim Marbaniang, has been invited by the INTERKULTUR Organisation, Germany, as one of the judges at the 4th Asia Pacific Choir Games & Grand Prix of tions, Colombo from 21st to 28th October.

The INTERKULTUR has regarded her as a successful and accomplished soloist of the Shillong Chamber Choir. The only Indian representative, Iba will work together with other jury members from Norway, the UK, USA, South Africa, New Zealand, Singapore, Chi, Indonesia, Myanmar and the Philippines.

“It’s an honour and most of all a special moment in my career as a musician. Adjudicating is definitely a rare and yet a very difficult task for me. I am more than certain that I will come back home enriched with new knowledge through this experience,” Ibarisha said.

It may be mentioned that there will be eight choir groups who will be participating from India – KC Lights (Meghalaya), the galand Chamber Choir (galand), the Ao ga Choir (galand), the Mizo Cardil Choir (Mizoram), the Salvation Singers (Mumbai), Beat Choir (Cheni), the Madras Musical Association Choir (Cheni) and the Sargam Choir (Cheni).

With the 4th Asia Pacific Choir Games 2017 being held in Colombo, the INTERKULTUR is eager to explore a new cultural area and tradition since this is the very first time that such an event will be held in South Asia.

Participants will also have the chance to attend workshops and semirs during the event.
