Christmas celebrated with enthusiasm in Sivasagar

Joysagar, Dec 25: Christmas was celebrated in Sivasagar with religious and festive spirit on Monday. The yuletide fever gripped Sivasagar as various programmes were arranged by the followers of Christianity in this historic town. The melody of chiming bells and holy carols could be heard in each and every corner of historic Sivasagar. The Sivasagar District Central Baptist Church Society situated on the bank of the historic Borpukhuripar of Sivasagar town, held a variety of programmes. Under the guidance of Rev Father Biren Guwala, special prayers were held in the church. People from all walks of life and irrespective of religion took part in the Christmas programmes with enthusiasm.
 Rev Biren Guwala in his speech said that Christmas was not only a religious occasion but also an occasion for every person to hear the voice of his soul. “People should know God as our savior. God will save people from all sins and will present eterl happiness in life,” Rev Guwala added.  Religious discussions, prayers for world peace and prosperity, distribution of clothes and food among the poor and religious processions marked the day.
