Christmas celebration ushers joy at Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, Dec 25: Keeping in line with the worldwide celebrations of the birth of Jesus Christ, the people of Dibrugarh also observed Christmas on Monday. People across different faiths were seen participating in the festivities by visiting the Church in the evening.

On the occasion, different churches dotting the town were adorned with various kinds of designs. These churches located in different parts of Dibrugarh, including the Catholic Church at Khalihamari, Baptist Church on Jail Road, Church of Jesus Christ at Kadamoni and Catholic Church in the Don Bosco School, came alive on the occasion with scores of people going there to pay their obeisance to Jesus Christ and Mother Mary. 

Apart from churches, the residences of people following the Christian faith were also illumited. Special mention needs to be made of the Catholic Church at Khalihamari. The greatest crowd puller among the churches in the region, it was decorated with colourful lights, attractive stars and X-mas trees on the eve of the most important festival of the Christian community.
