CIC asks Education department official to provide information

GUWAHATI, Jan 13: The Chief Information Commissioner of Assam on January 11 last heard the RTI Case No. LPR.15/20154 and has directed the SPIO of the Directorate of Elementary Education to furnish the set of information sought by the petitioner Amarjeet Rajkhowa, by Registered A/D post within 15 days from the receipt of the Order.

It may be mentioned that the petitioner Amarjeet Rajkhowa, the information sought in Point No. 1 and 3 were already furnished by the Directorate of Elementary Education.

The petitioner in point no. 2 of his RTI petition, has wanted to know the district-wise amount of scholarship sanctioned for SC/ ST students, copies of Utilization Certificates and Actual Payee Receipts thereof. But, in respect of the point no. 2 of the RTI petition, the information sought for has not yet been generated.

The Commission, thereafter, directs the Principal Secretary, Education Department and the Director of Elementary Education to look into the matter with the seriousness that it deserves and take appropriate administrative steps to make the information available within 4 months from the date of receipt of the Order.

The action taken by the Principal Secretary, Education Department and the Director of Elementary Education and the SPIO of the Directorate of Elementary Education will be reviewed by the Commission after 4 months and Commission has fixed 11 a.m. of May 2, 2016 as the date and time for further review.
