The service, launched throughout the Mangaldai Municipal area with the help of the facilitators of the Common Service Centres (CSC), is reportedly first of its kind in the urban administration history of the entire Northeast.

In this connection, Mangaldai civic body organized a public function in the Borpukhri park of the town where Mangaldai legislator Gurujyoti Das, Director of Municipal Administration Department, Nazreen Ahmed, District Development Commissioner Sweety Gogoi Kalita, Additional Deputy Commissioner and Executive Officer of Mangaldai Municipality Board, Pankaj Chakravarty, chairman of the Municipal Board, Pratap Bordoloi and State head of the CSC, Jnan Doley among others took part as the guest of honour.

Speaking on the occasion ADC Chakravarty explained how the municipal administration had taken steps to bring 17 citizen-centric services under the online service, thereby bringing the service more close to the tax payers to make it transparent, hassle free and effective. He also highlighted the efforts to create Mangaldai, a plastic pollution free township, for which he appealed to residents and traders to segregate their day to day use to organic and non-biodegradable material and store in two different dustbins.

The Municipal Board authority also made a unique move in the waste disposal phenomenon by offering special uniforms and identity cards to all the rag pickers and the cleanliness staff of the Board. The function also witnessed offering felicitation to a total of 70 meritorious students under the municipal area who secured more than eighty per cent marks in HSLC and HS final examination this year with gamosa and bundle of books. Earlier, on the occasion of the World Environment Day, a mass awareness procession on environment protection and plastic pollution was taken out across the town.
