ITAGAR, Sept 11: The Aruchal Civil Society (ACS) on Thursday castigated the uncalled    decision of the Union Ministry of Road, Transport and Highway (MoRTH) for rolling back the most awaited four-lane tiol Highway project of state capital and advising the State Government to submit a new proposal for 2-lane highway instead.

“It is a major setback and a matter of shame for the citizens of Aruchal Pradesh that the MoRTH has rolled back the Detail Project Report (DPR) submitted earlier for four-lane road for the state under development aspect as four-lane road is the need of the hour,” ACS Chairman Patey Tayum said in statement.

“The decision on such vital project by  Prime Minister rendra Modi led NDA Government has categorically projected Aruchal as it is not an integral part of India rather a partial land which should not be develop in any context,” he added.

Tayum further stated that good roads were always the main reason for major infrastructure development in any country or its state and Aruchal is a mini India, but the step motherly attitude meted by the Centre has hurt the sentiments of the people.

“Despite knowing that Aruchal has border dispute with Chi, the preference should be given for such development,” he averred.

Further condemning the decision, the ACS urged the ministry to take back its decision immediately.
