In a press-release issued on Monday, Tapan Sen, general secretary of CITU has strongly condemned the brutal attacks on the left activist and offices in Tripura which was unleashed by the RSS-BJP hooligan just hours after the results of Tripura assembly elections were out. BJP which has aligned with the separatist forces and used money and muscle power to win the elections has unleashed a reign of terror on the members and supporters of the left parties and CITU, attacking their houses and offices throughout the state. Over 1500 houses were attacked, hundreds of people sustained injuries and several houses and offices set on fire.

It has been mentioned in the press-release that these attacks are attacks on democracy. CITU has called upon all its affiliated unions and members as well as the entire working class to protest these attacks on democracy. CITU has also urged upon them to join en-masse the solidarity actions which are being organized across the county by the left organizations and democratic peace loving people. CITU is confident that the left and democratic forces who braved the terrorists, extremists and separatist forces in the past would also defeat these forces of terror with the mass support of the people this time as well.
