CITU's mass rally against petrol price hike

Bongaigaon, jan 19: Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), Bongaigaon and Chirang district committee had staged a protest meeting on Friday in Bongaigaon Gandhi Field in protest against petrol price hike. Talking to press Hareswar Das, President of CITU, Bongaigaon district committee said that the protest meeting has been staged mainly regarding the petrol and diesel price hike.

 “Hike of price in petrol and diesel has affected communication and transportation of common goods. We demand Government to control the price hike immediately. We also demand Government to provide proper value to the products of the farmers. If our demands are not met, we shall be compelled to take the path of agitation,” he said. It should be  mentioned that before the meeting, a protest rally throughout the town has been organised by the activists of CITU. After the meeting, a memorandum to Prime Minister of India has been submitted through Bongaigaon DC. Several noted person including Hareswar Das, Parimal Chakraborty, Vice President , CITU, Bongaigaon and many other were present in this programme. It should be mentioned that same programme has been arranged by CITU in Bijni and Manikpur town also.
