City and AG advance in T20

GUWAHATI, April 22: City Cricket Club (B) thrashed Veteran Club by 10 wickets in the 3rd Golap Hazarika and Arati Hazaika T20 cricket tourment match held at the Judges ground here today. In the other game of the day, AG Sports club beat Mahara Athletic club by 5 wickets.

In the first match of the day AG Sports Club (AGSC), chasing 104 runs to win, reached the target easily losing five wickets. Tarjinder Singh (26) was the top scorer of the side. Abhijit Singha Roy bagged two wickets. Earlier Mahara AC, elected to bat, scored 103-8 in 15 overs. Rio Pramanick, the top scorer, contributed 25 runs in 24 balls. Prasanta Sonowal and Tarjinder Singh scalped 2 wickets each.

 Meanwhile in the second game of the day Veteran club, bat first in the game, were bowled out 77 runs in 15 overs. One stage Veteran were struggling at 3-3 before Syed Zakaria Zuffri, former captain of Assam Ranji team,  and Nekibor Rahman held a partnership of 36 runs to make the total little respectable. Vikash Tiwari remained not out on 23. Anup Bhujel and Surinder Singh earned two wickets each for City Cricket Club. City Cricket chased the runs easily without losing a single wicket. Opener Aditya Barooah (56) scored half century and his partner Rohan Hazarika added 16 runs on the board.
