City likely to host ISL iugural ceremony

GUWAHATI, June 7: Guwahati will likely to take the centre-stage once again and that too for a sporting event.  It is almost fil that the iugural function of the next ISL will be held at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium in October.

The organizer yet to announce the news officially but different sources said that it is almost fil. The event likely to be held on October 1 and at the same day North East United FC, the sole representative of North East in the competition, may take defending champion Cheniyin FC in the iugural game on the same day.

Guwahati already emerged as one of the top crowed puller stadium in the country during ISL. Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium was almost jam packed in every games of Northeast United FC during the earlier two editions of this competition.

Possibly it was the reason behind to short list the stadium for the iugural event of the 3rd ISL.

A source from the NEUFC today admitted that although they haven’t received official confirmation in this regard but it is true that discussion was held and concern authority are in favour to allot the event to Guwahati.

It may be mentioned here that Guwahati is selected as one of the venue for the U-17 World cup which is scheduled to be held in 2017.
