City school observes Environment Day

GUWAHATI, June 7: South Point School observed the World Environment Day with a slew of programmes for three days from June 4 to 6, 2016 in its school premises and outside.

According to a press release, a quiz competition was organized on the first day along with a debate, both on topics of environment and sustaible development. Also posters, banners and models on related topics were prepared by students individually and in groups. These were displayed, judged and awarded on the concluding  day.

On 5 June an art competition with environmental issues was organized for students of this school as well as other schools in the indoor stadium of the school. It was collaborated with 92.7 FM Radio. Around 350 students participated in the competition.

On 6 June, a tree plantation programme was taken up on the school premises whereby teachers and students planted some shade and fruit bearing trees. Several teams of students led by teachers in charge also went to some public places like the ISBT and distributed leaflets to sensitize the general public about environment, the present threats to it and the need to conserve it for the sake of all life on earth.
