City school wins Green School Platinum Award

Guwahati, August 20: Portraying their commitment towards Green, NPS Intertiol School, Guwahati has been bestowed upon the coveted Green School Platinum Award 2016 by Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), at IIT Guwahati on Friday, a press release said.

Distributing the award, Prof Gautam Biswas, Director, IITGuwahati lauded the effort of the students of NPS Intertiol School in making the entire campus of the school Green. Stressing on the need of a holistic effort in conservation of energy and ture, Prof Biswas also urged the IIT students to concentrate more on research related issues for a better tomorrow. He also appreciated the efforts and research works being carried out in this regard in places like Japan, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia etc.

Participating in the programme, which was also attended by some of the leading engineers and scholars in Green movement in the country, Dr PK Sharma elaborated on the various issues relating to Indian Green Building Council.

The Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) was formed in the year 2001. The vision of the council is, “To eble a sustaible built environment for all and facilitate India to be one of the global leaders in the sustaible built environment by 2025”.

Probhati Biswas, principal of the school, elaborated on the roles played by the students of the school in making the entire school building and its environment green.
