City to host AGM of IOA tomorrow

GUWAHATI, Dec 21: Several high profile sports organizers of the country are expected to visit the city during next two days as Guwahati is gearing up to host the Annual General Body Meeting (AGM) of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA). The meeting will be held in a luxury hotel on Wednesday.

The AGM assumes significance as the IOA will take stock of the preparation of the country's athletes for next year's Olympic Games and also discuss several matter related to hold the 12th South Asian Games in Guwahati and Shillong. All top officials of the IOA, including president N Ramachandran and Secretary General Rajeev Mehta, are expected to attended the meeting.

Meanwhile Anil Khan, the president of the All India Tennis Association (AITA), will visit Chachal Tennis complex tomorrow evening. Khan, who also holds the post of treasurer, IOA, will be accompanied by Secretary General of AITA Bharat Oza during his visit at the complex. Ankursh Dutta, the secretary of the All Assam Tennis Association, said that Khan would visit the Chachal tennis complex for the first time and they had planned to felicitate him and Oza during this visit.
