Civic body workers launch no-work agitation

DOOMDOOMA, August 1:   In response to the agitation of the All Assam Civic Bodies Workers’ Federation, the workers of Doomdooma Branch too resorted to five days no-work agitation beginning  from Tuesday.
 As a consequence, all works of Doomdooma Town Committee came to a standstill. However, water supply and street light services were exempted from the purview of the agitation. The workers resorted to agitation in support of their various demands like regular payment of wages under Devolution Fund of Assam State Fincial Commission, Provident Fund(P/F), provincialization of jobs and declaration of ordince of  ‘Staffing Pattern’ as per approval of cabinet meeting, equal pay for equal work of scavengers and retirement benefit.
The agitation will continue till August 5. If, in the meanwhile, the government does not fulfil their legitimate demands, the civic bodies workers’ federation will intensify the stir.
