Civil servants must fight odds for good governce'

Shillong, April 21: The Civil Services Day, 2017 with the theme “Challenges in Delivery of Public Services” was celebrated today at Pinewood Hotel, Shillong where Meghalaya Minister in-charge , Information Technology, Information & Public Relations, etc, Dr M Ampareen Lyngdoh graced the iugural session  as chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Lyngdoh highlighted the importance of civil servants working in unison with the political leaders as the two are inseparable in effective public service delivery. 
While stressing on ensuring accountability at both political and bureaucratic level, she exhorted the civil servants to fight against all odds and break barriers for good governce. She called upon the officers to take up the challenges and contribute for the betterment of the state and the society as a whole and make ‘people feel worthy and proud of being Indian citizens.’ Earlier, while delivering the welcome address, Meghalaya Chief Secretary, KS Kropha, IAS spoke of the need to break the stereotype and focus on citizen-centric governce.
