Civil Services Day celebrated

Shillong, April 20: The Civil Services Day under the theme, “Emerging Challenges in Governce” was celebrated today at the State Convention Centre, Shillong.

Addresing the iugural function, Deputy Chief Minister Dr RC Laloo said that the people of the country have become more demanding and as such the civil servants have to be more proactive and responsible and upgrade their effectiveness to address the growing need.

Dr Laloo further urged the civil servants to use the latest technologies that are available in order to tackle the emerging challenges in the present governce and also for a good service delivery to the people and for the tion as a whole.

Home Minister Roshan Warjri said that civil service men has lent a commendable job with the emerging challenges in the present day governce.

Warjri urged the officers to rededicate themselves to the cause of the people and serve the tion to the best.

“The process of administration has to be re-engineered to adapt with the ever changing generation for the delivery of good governce so as to eble the civil servants to address the expectations of the people and the tion”, the Home Minister said.

Meghalaya Chief Secretary, PBO Warjri while giving a keynote address said that the bureaucrat-minister relationship should be a dymic for smooth delivery of service.

Warjri further added that the basic duties with regards to the ethical adherence and to the Constitution remains the same and urged the officer to update themselves with the expectations of the pressure groups.

The iugural function was followed by a panel discussion on the theme, “Emerging Challenges In Governce”.

Thereafter presentations were made on - “Black Topping of Rural Roads” by KN Kumar, Principal Secretary, “Community Participation in Increasing the Protected Forest Area in Meghalaya” by YS Shullai, Additiol PCCF, “Meghalaya Health Insurance Scheme” by MR Synrem, Secretary, “Safe and Secure Shillong” by Mariahom Kharkrang, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, “Integrated Village Development Plan” by AS Suting, Research Officer and “Enterprise Facilitation Centre” by P Jain, Principal Secretary.
