Civil Services Day observed in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, April 22: In an effort to re-direct and re-commit oneself to the cause of people, the Sivasagar district administration observed the Civil Services Day on Thursday at Sukapha Hall in the office of the Deputy Commissioner here.

Speaking on the occasion SP.R Gharphalia , Additiol Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar, in his welcome address stated that Civil Servants needs to follow the codes of responsibility, honesty, accountability besides fostering good governce and socio economic development.

Dhiren Hazarikia, i/c Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar, welcomed all officials along with the resource person, Dr Prakash Kakoty, former Principal of Sibsagar College. Hazarika, stated that we should strive towards excellence in providing services to the general public as we all are accountable to them. “Changes are inevitable and fast so we need to acclimatize ourselves with the changes”, said Hazarika.

Dr. P. Kotoky stated that best practice methods needs to be adopted in all services and they are region specific. He also gave examples of best practices measures like the Lakwa Open Defecation Free success story and substitution of bio-degradable bags instead of plastic bags that was followed in Sivasagar and which needs to be done on a sustaible basis.

D.N. Morang, Additiol Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar, said, “Besides adoption of best practices methods, delivery system also needs to be re-engineered with the changing society.”
