Clash between religious groups, many injured

GORESWAR, Jan 16: Tension prevails in and around Joykochi village near Ishar camp Chowk under Baihata Chariali police station in Kamrup district (R) after a clash broke out between two religious groups on Monday night.

 Sources said that someone threw the stomach of a goat under the bridge of Kathalguri river during Bhogali Bihu and Hindu community people mistook it to be the stomach of a cow. This misunderstanding led to a clash between the two groups on Monday night. Many were sent to the hospital as they were injured seriously and a house was gutted on the spot. Police rushed to the spot and controlled the situation.
