Clean and Green Village Mission launched in Tezpur

Tezpur: The Clean and Green Village Mission, an initiative by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal under MyGov Assam, was successfully launched in Bhotpara, Da Parbatia, Jahamari and Bukagaon villages of Sonitpur district in individual ceremonies held in each of these villages. The programme was first launched in Bhotpara village under Dhekiajuli LAC, followed by Da Parbatia in Tezpur LAC, Jahamari village of Barchalla LAC and Bukagaon of Rangapara LAC.

These four villages are among the 126 villages selected for this mission, with one village from each Legislative Assembly Constituency of the state. The programme has been organised by MyGov Assam in association with Panchayat and Rural Development department and the district administration.

The programme saw a large turn-out of local villagers who pledged to go plastic-free and maintain a clean and healthy environment in their villages. They also pledged to commit themselves to the cause of conservation of the environment in order to save the environment from degrading.

Officials from MyGov Assam, Himalay Sarma and Dhiraj Kumar Deka appealed to the people to work towards making their villages pollution-free and promote greenery for all-round development of the villages. Maintenance of hygiene and proper sanitation facilities in each household under the Swachh Bharat Mission, complete ban on use of plastic products, installation of bamboo dustbins in each household, promoting use of organic products, were some of the other issues which were discussed in the meeting. The villagers were also explained the importance of conservation and the need to plant more trees.
