Clean Assam Mission Week observed in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, Oct 20: The Kokrajhar district administration observed the week long ‘Seuj Asom Sajagata Saptah’ on Monday in collaboration with the Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB) in Kokrajhar town under the Chief Minister’s Clean Assam mission for making the town clean and green.

As part of the programme, a cleanliness drive was launched in Kokrajhar town on Tuesday. The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, MP Sharma iugurated the cleanliness drive in Kokrajhar town. He said the district administration observed the Seuj Week in Kokrajhar in collaboration with the KMB with an aim to make the environment clean. He said the cleanliness drive was very important for a clean environment and health and hygiene. The district administration had been working to make people aware about the importance of cleanliness in the town, he said, adding that people were becoming aware on magement of waste materials.

 The chairman of Kokrajhar Municipal Board, Bishnu rzary said the Clean Assam mission was observed by the KMB with the support of the district administration. The cleanliness drive on Monday was brought out as part of this mission, he said adding that the cleanliness drive started from railway level crossing at JD Road to the Indian Oil petrol pump. He also said that the KMB had been trying to make Kokrajhar a garbage-free town and with this mission the board had initiated for proper garbage magement through Solid and Liquid Resource Magement (SLRM) workers. He further said that the KMB had chalked out planning for scientific magement of garbage. People of various communities took part along with the SLRM workers in the cleanliness programme.
