Clean India campaign and afforestation drive carried out

KOKRAJHAR, May 25: As  part of the Civic Action Progrmme, the 16th  Bn.SSB Ranighuli on Tuesday organized a programme under Swachh Bharat Abhiyan in and around of Chimari–A (Tilapara) under Dhubri district and the adjoining school campus area which is about 1 km from battalion head quarter–SSB Ranighuli.

Simultaneously, the Bn. Hqr and Bops/Coys of 16th Bn.SSB Ranighuli deployed along the Indo–Bhutan border also organized aforestation drive along with Clean India campaign where around 5,000 of plants of Giloy were planted in the nearby village area of BOP/Coy/Bn.head quarter. The programme resumed early in the morning by the personnel of unit with aim to make local people aware about the importance of hygiene and cleanness. This is the same area where 16th Bn SSB on October 25, 2015 successfully organized Clean India campaign. The SSB personnel, including officers, Sub–Ordite Officers and jawans took part in this noble cause and with the participation of the local villagers; the surrounding market area of Chimari (Tilapara), bushes along the roadside and the school campus were cleaned. The children also extended their helping hand to make the event successful and accomplishing the goal of Clean India Campaign.  

Besides, Clean India campaign, plantation drive was also carried out in the area where thousands of plants of Giloy were planted by personnel, local villagers  and Sandiksha  team of the 16th Bn.SSB Ranighuli. The Giloy plant is useful and acts as a remedy for preventing effects of cancer. During the drive, Amit Kumar, DIG, SHQ , Bongaigaon,  A.K.C Singh, Commandant, 16th Bn.SSB  Ranighuli, Senior Officers of unit, Sandiksha team, personnel of 16th Bn and villagers  were also  present.

Amit Kumar, DIG, addressed the villagers and said it was important to make the area clean and was the responsibility of each and everyone to make this possible.
