Cleaning of drain at Baihata Chariali on

BAIHATA CHARIALI, April 23: The move to clean the roadside drain on NH-31 by the administration here on Sunday was appreciated by the people of the area.

The drain was filled with mud and garbage for which the normal flow of rain water through the drain had been disturbed and an artificial flood situation arose. The people of the area and a number of organizations had held several discussions with the administration regarding the problem, following which Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (R),  Binod Sechan ordered to clean the drain.

The work of clearing the drain was carried out under the supervision of Gujit Roy Choudhury, Additiol Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (R), Bedanga Talukdar, Circle Officer of Kamalpur revenue circle and  Mantu Talukdar, Officer in- Charge of Baihata Chariali police station. The people of the area have appreciated the drive of the administration and urged the Deputy Commissioner of Kamrup (R) to allot a scheme for the construction of concrete drains along with footpath on either sides of the road for solution of this perennial problem.
