Darrang Deputy Commissioner Ashok Kumar Barman iugurated the campaign in a small function arranged at the Clock Tower point of the town and while appreciating the initiative of the SRD Group of Companies for undertaking such a noble venture, appealed to all the citizens of the town to maintain cleanliness in all spheres of life.

Directors of SRD Group of Companies, Mukul Chandra Deka, Rajib Kumar Deka (Mintu), Anupam Deka (Jonti) and Sagar Deka, with a broom in their hands took part in the campaign. Besides the employees of the company, a good number of citizens and media persons also took part in the cleanliness campaign.

Significantly, though the company had requested the Mangaldai Municipality Board to provide a tractor to carry the garbage, the civic body gave a negative reply which has created deep resentment here. Laxmi th Bezbaruah Road- the ever busy road of Mangaldai town was on Monday given a new look as people who participated in the cleanliness campaign spruced up the road.
