Cleanliness drive launched at RNB hospital, cals cleared

KOKRAJHAR, July 13: The district legal service authority, Kokrajhar in association with the Kokrajhar Municipal Board (KMB) and 16th Bn.SSB, Ranighuli, on Wednesday conducted a massive cleanliness drive under the Swacch Bharat Abhiyan Mission in the premises of RN Brahma Civil Hospital in the heart of Kokrajhar town with a view to create good sanitation around the town.

The Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar, Madhav Prasad Sharma, chairman of KMB, Bishnu rzary, secretary of the district legal service authority, R. Bhattacharya and officers of the SSB actively took part in the cleanliness drive. The workers under the Solid and Liquid Resource Magement (SLRM) of KMB took active part in the drive.

Deputy Commissioner MP Sharma said efforts were being made to create a hazard-free environment in Kokrajhar through Swachh Bharat Abhiyan Mission.

Talking to reporters, the chairman of the KMB, Bishnu rzary said the workers and the SLRM of the Municipal Board joined the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with the district legal service authority and SSB to clean up the hospital premises and create a good atmosphere in the surrounding. He said the KMB had been carrying out cleanliness drive and cleaning garbage in every ward involving SLRM workers who also collect the waste materials house-to-house twice a day. He said by August this year every ward in Kokrajhar town would be brought under SLRM. He also said the waste materials would be segregated in the SLRM hall and some items would be sent for reuse.

rzary said to make Kokrajhar free from artificial flash flood, efforts were being made and as part of these efforts, two huge cals that pass through Kokrajhar town had been cleared. He said the first blocked cal with waste materials from Bajwi Hotel-Tengapara-Baganshali to Habrubari and second cal from Sudempuri to rabari via Subhashpalli, Thapara-Kokrajhari had been cleaned for swift flow of water. He also said that the drains in Kokrajhar town had been repaired and cleared to avoid water logging during summer season.

The secretary of the district legal service authority, R. Bhattacharya said the cleanliness drive was carried out at their initiative in association with the district administration, KMB and SSB, 16th Bn. for creating good hygiene in the town as well as to create awareness among the masses towards clean environment.

The ASI, 16th Bn.SSB, Sahan Singh also said the battalion had been carrying out the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan programme in different parts of their operatiol areas including Indo-Bhutan border.
