Cleanliness Woes: Golaghat turns into garbage dumping ground

GOLAGHAT: At a time when the district administration is carrying out cleanliness drives to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the garbage lying in various locations of Golaghat town exposes the real picture. Due to alleged negligence of the district administration and Municipality Board, the town has turned into a garbage dumping ground. As a result, an unhygienic atmosphere prevails in the town area.

In this regard, a team of the district AASU Unit, under the leadership of president Angsuman Baruah and secretary Biswajit Gogoi of Golaghat Regional Students’ Union, met the Municipality Board chairman and Deputy Commissioner of the district to demand immediate initiative to clean the garbage lying in various locations of the town area.
