Cleanness is part of the Indian culture: Tasa

JORHAT, April  7: “Cleanness is the part of the Indian culture but we have failed to clean our surrounding area,” said Jorhat MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa while addressing the Swacha Mela held at the Dr Pitambar Deva Goswami auditorium premises on Thursday, which was organized by the Jorhat district administration. MP Tasa also iugurated an exhibition as part of the Swacha Mela

Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat, Virendar Mittal also participated in the mela and spoke about cleanness drive and sanitation programme. “We should take an oath to clean our area. We are all responsible for cleanness in our area,” he said.

Jorhat district administration conferred the Cleanest Village Award to Adhal Katiya gaon under Kachukhat gaon panchayat in Titabar subdivision in the meeting. Around 24,019 toilets were constructed in 2016-17 fincial year in the district, announced the Deputy Commissioner of Jorhat. Aru Dutta, chairperson of Jorhat municipality board, Anup Ghosh Dastidar, vice-chairman of JMB and Buddhist monk Vante Amrita nda were present in the meeting.
