'Clear understanding of history and heritage will develop our knowledge'

Dibrugarh, Jan 22: “To preserve our enriched heritage as well as tradition, one has to understand the value and importance of the same. It is also necessary to initiate systematic method to preserve the heritage in an organized manner such as museums, cultural institutions and research organizations.” This view was aired by Pankaj Protim Bordoloi, In-charge, Museum division, Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi  while delivering a popular talk  on ‘Indian Heritage and Museum Education : Reflection in Contemporary Media’ held at DHSK Commerce College here on Saturday.
“Clear understanding of history and heritage will develop our knowledge, which in turn will help us to have a liberal view of the reflection of the same in contemporary popular media,” Bordoloi added . Encouraging the gathering by exhibiting some selected scenes from some heritage-related films like Sikandar, Jhansi Ki Rani, Border, Logan and Jodha Akbar, resource person Bordoloi also urged the student community to come forward  to work for the preservation of the glory as well as treasures of our great heritage starting from their own home or institutions. The talk was organized jointly by Equal Opportunity Centre and the Department of Assamese in association with Interl Quality Assurance Cell of the institution.
Earlier, Principal Dr. KM Bhagawati delivered the iugural speech wherein he praised the efforts of the organizers and also asked the students to be heritage conscious. Vice-Principal Pulin Rajbongshi also spoke on the occasion.  Luku Morang, advisor, Equal Opportunity Centre  as well as Head of the Department of English  of the college, aptly anchored the programme.  bajyoti Dutta, Head of the Department of Assamese, offered the vote of thanks.
