Close shave for Governor

Shillong, Aug 2: Assam and Meghalaya Governor Banwarilal Purohit had a rrow escape as his security convey was involved in an accident  at Mawiong Rim here on Wednesday. The governor was heading to Shillong from Guwahati. According to reports, the incident took place around 12.45 pm in which five security personnel were injured and taken to a Shillong-based hospital. While three security personnel suffered serious injuries and are still hospitalised, two have been discharged after being given first aid.
When contacted, East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police (SP) Davis N Marak said, “The Governor was unharmed in the incident, but he visited the injured security personnel at the hospital.”
rrating the incident, Marak said one Bolero Camper (ML05-0731) tried to avoid the motor vehicle inspection team and sped away before hitting the vehicle carrying the bodyguards of the Governor. The security vehicle overturned from the impact of the hit, in which the five security personnel were hurt.
The SP said the driver of the Bolero Camper has been arrested and a case will be registered against him under rash and negligence driving, including attempted murder, because his vehicle almost dashed into the vehicle ferrying the Governor.
