CM dotes Rs 20 lakh for development of Moghai Ojah Kola-Kristi Kendra

JORHAT 16, March : Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today announced a grant of Rs 20 lakh for the development of the Moghai Ojah Kola-Kristi Kendra, located in Asoibari in Chenijan area, around seven kilometers  from Jorhat. Gogoi, who was present in a cultural programme held in memory of the great folk artiste here today, said, “Moghai Ojah is one of the best folk-artists in the cultural history of Assam and was the first person to take the dhol to the intertiol are.”  He said Moghai Ojah maged to get tionwide popularity at  his own efforts. “So it is our duty to recognize his contribution he had made  to the society,” Gogoi said. Chief Minister Gogoi said  that the State Government would take steps to set up a full-fledged  center on folk-musical instruments and the works of Moghai Ojah. “State-level award in the me of the great artist will be announced within the next three months” said Gogoi. A statue of Moghai Ojah was unveiled by former Jorhat MP Bijoy Krish Handique at Moghai Ojah Kola-Kristi Kendra premises.  It may be mentioned that the birth centery of Moghai Ojah will be started from next year. Handique said that the programme of centery celebration will be started this year itself.
