CM expresses concern over drowning incidents

ITAGAR, July 28: Chief Minister Pema Khandu has expressed deep concern over the rise of drowning cases in the State.
Expressing apprehension over the reported incident of three JNV class IX students feared drowned in Siang river on Wednesday, Khandu has asked all the adjoining district administrations to gear up for search operations.
He also requested the villagers to help the administration and police to track and locate the missing students. NDRF team has also been pressed into service.  The CM is persolly monitoring the entire exercise, a statement from the CMO said.
Khandu also expressed profound sorrow over the loss of two lives due to drowning in Papum and Pare rivers recently. While conveying his deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, the Chief Minister has sought a detail report on the incidencnts from the district administration concerned so that the government could expedite for release of ex-gratia to the next of kin of the victims.
Appealing the citizens to remain cautious during the monsoon which has already claimed many lives, Khandu directed the district administration to issue necessary instructions to schools, village heads and common people to avoid going to river banks or drains to avert recurrence of such unfortute incidences.
