CM expresses gratitude to people for peaceful puja celebration

GUWAHATI, Oct 1: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal expressed his gratitude to the people of Assam for celebrating the Durga Puja in a peaceful and disciplined manner in the State.

In a message, the Chief Minister said, “Durga Puja was celebrated maintaining its religious fervour in a very peaceful and orderly manner all throughout the State. I thank the people for their endeavour and hope this celebration would further strengthen the bond of harmony and unity amongst people across Barak and Brahmaputra valleys and hills and plains of the State,” stated a press release.

Lauding the role of the respective civil and police administrations, puja committees and peace committees, the Chief Minister also thanked them for their devoted service to ensure peaceful puja celebration. He also urged the puja committees to keep the puja sites and immersion sites clean and tidy. Sonowal also thanked the people of the State for celebrating the birth anniversary of Mahapurush Shreemanta Shankardev with enthusiasm following the age old tradition in the State.
