CM felicitates hockey winners with cash awards

GUWAHATI, April 3: Assam Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal today felicitated the boys and girls team of Assam which emerged champion in the 8th Hockey India tiol Sub Junior championship held recently at Hojai and Kaliabor. Each members of the team received cash award of Rs. 25,000 while the support and other staffs of the team collected Rs. 20,000 each.

The function, organized jointly by the State Level Advisory committee for Student and Youth Welfare and Directorate of the Sports and Youth Welfare Department, was held at the Mandhabdev Intertiol Auditorium here today. Addressing the gathering Chief Minister said,“Assam government is trying its best to promote sports in the state. Already new sports policy is introduced in the state and sports persons of Assam will now be highly benefitted from it.”

Among others attended the function were Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta, who is also the president of the Assam Hockey, Sports Minister ba Kumar Doley, Irrigation Minister Ranjit Dutta and a host of other dignitaries.
