CM iugurates Handloom and Textile office building

JORHAT, July 4: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today iugurated a new office building of Handloom and Textile Department in Jorhat in a move to act as a facilitation centre between the weavers and the department, stated a press release.

Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Gogoi said that the building would act as blessings to the weavers as they would get suggestions and other key services from the office to increase their competence.

He also said the economy of the state to a large extent is dependent on weavers and without developing them, Assam cannot progress. Gogoi also reiterated his government’s commitment to expedite economic development of the weavers by generating more income generating vocations.

The Chief Minister further said to increase the selling proposition of the products of the weavers of the State  there should be intensive training to them bringing  in more variety in designs and colours. His Government is initiating several schemes for the weavers to facilitate their development, Gogoi added.

Minister for Handloom, Textile and Sericulture Bismita Gogoi also spoke on the occasion. MLA Ra Goswami, Upper Assam Division Commissioner Anurag Goel, Deputy Commissioner Jorhat Basant Vishal Solanki along with others were also present on the occasion.
