Abhayapuri, November 25: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi arrived at the 8th APBN Helipad , Abhayapuri and he was given a warm welcome by Minister of Irrigation and Soil Conservation Chandan Sarkar, DC Biswajit Pegu, senior Congress leaders and other officials with flower bouquet and phulam gamosa, a press release said. The Chief Minister proceeded to Lengitrisinga to lay the foundation stone of a bridge, stated a press release. At the Rajib Gandhi Memorial College Field , Lengitisinga, Gogoi iugurated an irrigation project of 9,024 bighas worth Rs 90 crore (4 projects).
DC Biswajit Pegu said that very soon the road would be constructed at Lengitisinga (where the foundation was laid) and about a distance of 60 km (from Lengitisinga , North Salmara) would be shortened. He further added that Assam was an agricultural State and development was picking up pace as lots of other schemes were also coming ahead. Minister of Revenue and Disaster Magement Bhumidhar Barman said that with the construction of the road, people would be extremely benefitted. Minister Sarkar mentioned in his speech that State Highway leading from Chapaguri to Mah through Lengitisinga was yet another grand achievement.
The Chief Minister said there had been a lot of progress in Bongaigaon from 2001-2015, specifically in the rural and the underdeveloped areas in the year 2015. He said the government was always eager to help the poor people and also aware of everything happening in every district. Roads were constructed for all the people. He added that loans were taken from World Bank to complete the projects and also that a lot of poor people were benefitted. The loan was about Rs 98 crore. He further added that he would never accept the deportation of any Indian citizen and the NRC update process had been introduced to get rid of it. He said, “We need to stay united. The Central Government wants to get all the land without the authority of the landlords and this will not happen in presence of the present State Government,”
