CM iugurates NE's first digital SBI branch

SHILLONG, March 30: Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma today iugurated the Northeast’s first Digital Branch of State Bank of India at the premises of SBI, Main Branch here. Speaking at the Iugural function, Dr Mukul Sangma said that the new digitalized branch will cater to smart clients with smart banking facilities and banking and fincial delivery systems would be more efficient with technology backed solutions. He also expressed concern over Internet Banking security and the need to adopt higher application system that will be integrated in a manner which will temper proof and make Internet Banking safe for its clients. The Chief Minister also stressed on the need of aggressive sensitization and Fincial Literacy of the clients.  He urged the banks to collaborate with the government in various programmes of the government that would open up opportunities not only for the banks but also for micro and small entrepreneurs.  The SBI In Touch Bank is the 101st branch in Meghalaya and the first Digital branch in Northeast. The Iugural Function was also attended by Chief General Mager, North East Circle, PVSLN Murthy and other senior officials of State Bank of India.
