CM lays foundation stone of concrete bridge at Chaygaon

Guwahati, February 14: Chief Minister Tarun laid the foundation stone of a concrete bridge over Kolohi river which will connect Chaygaon Market with Singkhat under Chief Minister’s Special Scheme at a function held at Chaygaon in Kamrup district today.

The proposed concrete bridge will be built involving fund to the tune of Rs. 4 (four) crore and the construction will be over within 18 month. Speaking on the occasion Chief Minister Gogoi said ‘My Government is village centric and we are committed to expedite education, health and socio-economic development of the villages’. With this aim the State Government has been taking steps to set up model hospitals, educatiol institutions and small scale industrial units in villages, Gogoi said. He further said that his government has given special impetus for the human resource development of the villages and steps are being taken to generate employment avenues in the villages.

Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi also initiated the proceeding of handing over cheques worth Rs. 4,55,50,500/ as rehabilitation grants to 12829 families that were affected by the flood in 2014 in the revenue circles of Hajo, Chaygaon, Goroimari, Boko, Chomoria and garbera. Earlier Parliamentary Secretary, Education, Reikibuddin Ahmed speaking on the occasion reiterated State Government’s mission and vision for the welfare of the villages in Assam. He also said that Chief Minister Gogoi would pump in more money to revolutionise rural connectivity. A host of dignitaries were present on the occasion, a press release stated.
