CM lays foundation stone of cultural and sports complex in Dibrugarh

Dibrugarh, May 12: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal laid the foundation stone of Kalaguru Bishnu Rabha Cultural and Sports Complex at Bindhakata High School Playground in Dibrugarh district on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Sonowal expressed the view that the project would provide better opportunities to the youth for harnessing their talent in the field of culture and sports. He also reaffirmed government’s commitment to make Assam as the sports capital of the country and informed that adequate fund has been earmarked for welfare of the youth in the 2017-18 budget.

“The future of the tion depends as to how we positively channelize the power of the youth. There are abundance of talent in our villages. Government of Assam is committed to provide the youth best possible opportunities to exploit their abilities”, Sonowal stated adding that special focus is given to augment sports infrastructure in interior areas of the state.

Stating that there is no altertive to hardwork for success, the Chief Minister urged the aspiring sportspersons to toil hard to groom themselves and bring glory to the state. Sonowal also appreciated the hidden sporting talent of the youth of the tea tribe community and called for coordited effort from all sections of the society in taking them forward.

The Chief Minister also appealed the contractors to maintain quality in work and urged people to play their part in safeguarding the public property.

Sonowal also underlined the anti-corruption measures taken up by the government to ensure a responsible and accountable administration in the state. He further said that the government is resolutely working to transform the rural economy and double farmers’ income through implementation of ‘Chief Minister’s Samagra Gramya Unyan Yoja’ in the state. MLA Binod Hazarika, DC Dibrugarh Loya Maduri were also present on the occasion.
